BACP-BLUE Meeting Minutes January 5, 2026 Attendees: Doug, Larry & Gayle, Bruce & Carol, Dean 1. Review the Gaza peace vigils held since the December monthly meeting and schedule the next vigil. No vigils were held in December due to cold/windy weather. They were postponed twice, so we tried. January's vigil was overshadowed by the emergency Venezuela demonstration. Next Palestinian support rally will be Saturday, February 7th, at one o'clock. Location has been moved to 6th and Washington. 2. Discuss a rally/vigil supporting peace in Venezuela. Venezuela solidarity vigil will be held Saturday, January 10th, about noon (at Washington & E 6th St). Right after the potluck hosted by Brainerd Lakes Area DSA chapter. The potluck for progressives will be from ten to noon. 3. Review the project to repeal Minnesota's anti-boycott, divestment, and sanctions law (via SF3356/HF 3258) Members are encouraged to contact their state representatives. A toolkit for sample emails and talking points will be reposted by Doug (see attached file). 4. Update on the First Congregational UCC Creation Care Team's screening of "Kiss the Ground" at 5:00 pm on Friday January 16th. 5. Update on the 1:00 pm Saturday, January 31st, showing of "The Light Won't Dim", cohosted by the Lakes Area Environmental Table (LAET). Film is short but hosts would like us to be present to facilitate discussion afterward. 6. Update on the Kitchigami Regional Library System (KRLS) workers' struggle. No one had any new information on this.. 7. Discuss distributing Laura Raedeke's "Green Tips" to the BACP/BLUE listserv. Dean will forward these to the BLUE list and Doug and Larry will work out how to get them to BACP list (see attached file). 8. Treasurer's Report No report (~ $800). Added to Agenda. Paul Baker from Nicaragua would like to do a Zoom meeting/presentation in February about his environmental work in Nicaragua. Doug will be in contact with DSA about it and will contact Paul about a day and time.
